More about Vivek

Posted by Vivek on September 9th, 2006
Vivek Mittal is a creative writer, researcher, and lawyer based in Los Angeles, CA.  He likes Los Angeles except for the occasional earthquake that is inevitably overexaggerated, and therefore painfully scary, in whatever building he happens to be in while the fault lines shift about.

Vivek has a history of organizing and researching for immigrant and labor rights. He has worked with ACORN, ASATA, SEIU, and the Border Network for Human Rights. He currently works at the National Immigration Law Center (NILC).

Since mid-2005, Vivek has been part of Voices Breaking Boundaries’ Displaced Corps writing program in Houston, TX (where’s he from). He has been a serious creative writer ever since and explores themes of displacement, race, suburbia, agony, and liberation in his writing. His work has been featured at the Houston International Festival (2006) and UCLA’s World Art from a World Institution art exhibit (2007).

In 2006, Vivek decided to start Your Good Name. He used to deem it a ‘noble experiment in unabashed publicity and funny writing.’ Now, he just deems it.

He hopes you stay and comment. Email him at vivek at vivekmittal.com. Enjoy.
